OBJECTIVE:

The World Optometry Day (WOD) event of the current year centered on the theme “Advancing Optometry’s Commitment to Global Eye Care.” Organized by the UCSI School of Optometry (SOO) in collaboration with the School of Optometry Student Association (SOOSA). Key collaborators for the event included the Focus Point Vision Care Group and Bausch & Lomb (M) Sdn Bhd.

The event primarily focused on providing vision screening services to the targeted community, including UCSI students, staff, and the general public. The comprehensive vision screening encompassed assessments such as visual acuity, ocular alignments, stereopsis, and diagnostic tests. Utilizing state-of-the-art equipment provided by Focus Point, the screening aimed to detect any ocular abnormalities effectively.

Nonetheless, before issuing contact lenses, participants underwent thorough consultation and referral procedures to assess the suitability and safety of the product. Furthermore, referrals were made for specialized clinics to address any additional eye care needs identified during the screening process. Furthermore, attendees were offered free contact lenses and RM20 vouchers. An engaging game were organized, with enticing rewards such as RM100 Touch ‘n Go reload pins for the top three scorers.
