The Reimagining Charcoal project, led by Collab UCSI and Unit H UEL, explores sustainable innovations in Kuala Sepetang’s charcoal industry. By blending UK and Malaysian practices, it investigates new uses for charcoal and its by-products—like mangrove bark, dye, vinegar, and shells—through workshops, forums, and research. The project aims to reduce export reliance, empower local communities, preserve heritage, and promote a sustainable, community-focused model for the traditional charcoal trade.
