UCSI University celebrated Deepavali on 29 October 2025 at Block A, Level 1 (Lobby). The event was organised by Ms Veronica Dass from the Visa Processing Unit, together with dedicated staff volunteers. Held on a weekday to encourage greater participation, the celebration brought together staff and students in a vibrant display of culture and community spirit.
The event highlighted the true meaning of Deepavali – the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. Cultural elements such as the story of Lord Rama’s return to Ayodhya and the worship of Goddess Lakshmi were shared to deepen understanding of the festival’s significance.
Participants enjoyed a range of activities including traditional attire competitions, cultural performances, quizzes, and a lucky draw. The celebration also featured diya lighting, colourful rangoli decorations, henna booths, and traditional Indian sweets, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere.
This event fostered community bonding and promoted multicultural understanding, aligning with UCSI’s commitment to inclusivity and the values of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The evening of celebration was also attended by Datin Lily Ng, the wife of Dato Peter Ng(the UCSI Founder and Executive Chairman), Prof Dr Raj Kumar, Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Centre for Academic Quality Assurance, and En Khalid Abu Bakar, the Group Registrar.
