OBJECTIVE:

The Free Optometry Services event at UCSI Eye Centre, Cheras, successfully provided comprehensive eye care to UCSI students, staff, and members of the public. Running on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the initiative offered a wide range of services including general eye examinations, contact lens and binocular vision evaluations, children’s eye care, digital eye strain assessments, dry eye checks, vision therapy, and diabetic eye disease screenings.

Participants appreciated the convenience of the walk-in and appointment-based system, which ensured smooth service throughout the day. Many visitors took advantage of the special promotion, where frames and lenses (any power) were available at only RM199, making quality eyewear more accessible.

The event not only addressed immediate eye care needs but also raised awareness on the importance of regular vision check-ups. It was a meaningful effort by the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences, the UCSI Eye Centre, and the School of Optometry to promote community well-being while giving students practical experience in optometric care.

It was opened to the members of the public, including those from the disadvantaged communities and the refugees around the University.
