Flood Flow Management: Innovative Mechanism for Diverting Water @ Taman Melawati River
OBJECTIVE:
This project aims to bring about an innovative design of flood flow management by proposing new and innovative flow control mechanisms that can be applied to the sides of the river. This could involve the use of advanced materials, technologies, or naturebased solutions. Consider incorporating elements of green infrastructure or sustainable practices that enhance both flood control and ecological resilience, also, considering several factors such as its geographical features, climate, and the surrounding ecosystem. This knowledge is crucial for tailoring flood control mechanisms to the specific needs of this location. In the design process, the students are required to design a flood flow control mechanism using CAE software. In the design process, the students need to conduct background research about the flood, define the problems, identify the requirements and limitations, and brainstorm the possible solutions. The group should be able to present the conceptual design and justify and defend the decision on the selection of design, material, and suitable mechanism. The proposed design is to be modelled and analysed, where results on safety, durability, performance, and cost are expected. The group is also required to explain the engineering codes and standards related to the design and appropriately address the safety, health, environment, and sustainability issues
