UCSI and Hualang Renewable Energy Strengthen Collaboration
OBJECTIVE:
On 9 September 2026, UCSI University welcomed Hualang Energy Group President and CEO Dato’ Setia Dr Joshua Peter Tan and the Hualang delegation for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance collaboration in renewable energy and sustainability. Hualang Energy Group is a Malaysian green energy company working across renewable energy, biomass, small hydro, biogas and green hydrogen, as well as energy investment, consultancy and development, and operations and maintenance.
The partnership will cover joint research in renewable energy, biomass and waste valorisation, green hydrogen and energy storage, alongside opportunities for student internships, industrial placements, research attachments and technical visits. These initiatives aim to strengthen industry-academic collaboration while providing students and researchers with opportunities to gain practical exposure to the green energy sector.
Both parties will also identify priority projects and explore Hualang’s proposed Sustainable Renewable Energy Research Consortium, bringing together industry expertise and UCSI’s research capabilities to develop practical solutions that support Malaysia’s energy transition and advance sustainable development.
