Lavender Light: Hope For All 2.0
OBJECTIVE:
Lavender Light: Hope For All 2.0 was held from 10 to 14 August 2026, bringing together the UCSI University Kuala Lumpur community through a charity initiative organised by the Bursa Young Investor Club (BYIC). The initiative comprised a four-day Campus Charity Bazaar followed by a welfare home visitation to Yayasan Sunbeams Home, a registered non-governmental welfare organisation in Malaysia that provides shelter, nutritional care, emotional support and formal education for orphaned, abused, neglected and underprivileged children. The initiative aimed to promote social responsibility and provide practical support to children and youths in need.
The Campus Charity Bazaar featured food, drinks and interactive games at the university concourse, with all net proceeds channelled towards Yayasan Sunbeams Home. The initiative was supported by Versa Malaysia, a digital wealth and cash management platform operated by Versa Asia Sdn Bhd and licensed and regulated by the Securities Commission Malaysia, which conducted a financial literacy and savings awareness booth for students. The programme also featured a guest appearance by Ms Qiwiie, a Malaysian digital content creator, host and youth media personality, as well as student performances to engage the campus community and raise awareness of the charity initiative.
Through the collective support of 239 individual donors, corporate sponsorship and community contributions, the initiative mobilised a total of RM4,616.95 in aid, comprising RM4,082.55 in cash donations and RM534.40 worth of groceries and pantry necessities. Children from Yayasan Sunbeams Home were also invited to the UCSI campus, where they participated in activities and interacted with student volunteers. These activities provided opportunities for students to engage directly with children from a marginalised and underprivileged community while promoting greater awareness of social responsibility and community support.
The programme concluded with a welfare home visitation, where BYIC members spent time with 74 youths through interactive activities, icebreakers and academic and career sharing. The team also handed over the cash donation and essential groceries directly to the management of Yayasan Sunbeams Home to support utilities, transport, daily care and food needs. Through collaboration among UCSI University students, Yayasan Sunbeams Home, Versa Malaysia, individual donors and community supporters, Lavender Light: Hope For All 2.0 demonstrated how university-community partnerships can contribute to social inclusion, support vulnerable communities and create meaningful social impact.
