Harmoni-Mesra Campus Programme 2026

OBJECTIVE:

From 17–19 August 2026, UCSI University came together to celebrate Malaysia’s spirit of unity, cultural diversity and community through the Harmoni-Mesra Celebration. Organised by the Institute of Languages, the three-day programme brought together the UCSI community, external organisations, schools, cultural groups and community representatives through meaningful conversations, cultural performances, interactive activities and exhibitions.

The celebration began on 17 August with the official opening officiated by Tuan Zulkifli Hashim, Director-General of the Department of National Unity and Integration (JPNIN). The day also featured a keynote address by Prof Emeritus Tan Sri Dr Omar Abdul Rahman, FASc, Patron of the Harmoni Mesra Programme, and participation from the New Straits Times Group, represented by Madam Farah Naz Karim, Group Editor-in-Chief, and Istana Budaya. A key highlight was the forum, “Merdeka and the Media: Navigating Truth, Unity and Diversity in Modern Malaysia,” alongside a Bawang Putih and Bawang Merah performance by UCSI Early Childhood Education students and Sesi Berbalas Pantun by FOSSLA faculty members.

On 18 August, the Harmoni-Mesra Exhibition brought the UCSI community together through booths by ICAD, UCSI Trust, FAS, GSO, FHTM, The Blue Ribbon and Bodhi Homecare Charity. At the GSO booth, participants took part in “A Kind/Nice Compliment to Someone,” shared their aspirations through “My Hope for Malaysia in 2050,” and explored linguistic diversity through “Harmony in 15 Tongues,” learning Thank You, Peace, Sorry and Nice in 15 languages. These activities encouraged kindness, appreciation and meaningful connections within the campus community.

The final day on 19 August featured vibrant cultural performances by Taman Cuepacs Primary School, Bandar Seri Putra Primary School, Desa Baiduri Primary School, Royal Military College, Damai Perdana Secondary School and UCO. This was complemented by a Cultural Exhibition and Tour featuring the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and various UCSI student clubs, showcasing Malaysia’s diverse cultural heritage and student-led initiatives. The closing session featured remarks by Prof Dr Zuraidah Mohd Don, Director of the UCSI Institute of Languages, followed by an Appreciation and Certificate Presentation Ceremony.

The celebration concluded with the singing of Malaysia MADANI and Tanggal 31 Ogos, followed by the recitation of the Rukun Negara.
