Malaysian Youth SDG Summit 2026

OBJECTIVE:

UCSI University proudly participated as volunteers and exhibitors at the Malaysian Youth SDG Summit 2026, organised by MySDG Academy and held at Institut Kenegaraan Perdana. The summit brought together youth leaders, policymakers, practitioners, and organisations from across Malaysia to exchange ideas, share perspectives, and contribute recommendations towards shaping the nation’s social and economic future. Through their involvement, UCSI students had the opportunity to connect with fellow youth changemakers, expand their networks, and engage in discussions surrounding sustainable development.

The summit featured impactful sessions, including welcoming remarks by Datuk Dr. Denison Jayasooria, the official opening by YB Tuan Mordi anak Bimol, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, and a keynote address by Mr. Nikolas Myint, United Nations Resident Coordinator for Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam. Participants also took part in policy consultation and advocacy sessions, as well as the Roving Workshop and Learning Booth Experience, which showcased youth-driven sustainability initiatives from various organisations and institutions.

During the Roving Workshop and Learning Booth Experience, UCSI students showcased Plast X, an award-winning eco-innovation student startup that transforms used plastic bottles into 3D-printing filament. The initiative highlighted how plastic waste can be repurposed into valuable resources through circular economy practices, while demonstrating the creativity and innovation of UCSI students in addressing environmental challenges.

The participation reflects the University’s commitment to empowering youth, encouraging sustainability-driven innovation, and supporting efforts towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
