Beyond SDGs 2030 Southeast Asia Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue

OBJECTIVE:

The “Beyond SDGs 2030 Southeast Asia Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue”, held on 21 April 2026 at Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology, Cyberjaya, marked a significant milestone in shaping the future of sustainability beyond 2030. Organised by Keio University STAR, Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology, and UCSI Institute of Sustainability and Development Studies, the event brought together policymakers, academics, and industry leaders to officially launch the Beyond SDGs Project in ASEAN. The dialogue set the stage for early discussions on emerging priorities, new targets, and institutional frameworks needed for the post-2030 era.

With the 2030 deadline approaching, the dialogue emphasised the urgency of beginning now. Southeast Asia, as a dynamic yet climate-vulnerable region, must play an active role in shaping what comes next—ensuring regional priorities such as energy transition, blue economy, and social inclusion are reflected in future global goals. Moving beyond a one-size-fits-all approach, the session highlighted the need for more flexible, inclusive, and context-driven sustainability frameworks.

Bringing together policy, science, and practice, the dialogue underscored the importance of collaboration across sectors to deliver impactful solutions. As the world continues to evolve rapidly, the next generation of sustainability goals must be supported by innovative institutions, financing systems, and accountability mechanisms—making this dialogue a crucial first step toward a more resilient and forward-looking global agenda.
