Embrace differences, shine together
OBJECTIVE:
UCSI University organised the Inclusive Interaction Programme with Special Needs Children to promote social inclusion and meaningful engagement for children with special needs, supporting SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities. Led by Dr Siti Fatimah Kader Maideen from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS), the programme brought medical students together with children through interactive activities such as dancing, games, and colouring to enhance motor skills, social interaction, and emotional well-being.
The programme increased confidence and happiness among the children while enabling students to develop empathy, communication, and teamwork through community engagement. It also contributes to SDG 4: Quality Education by promoting inclusive learning opportunities and SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being by supporting the physical and emotional development of children with special needs.
