OBJECTIVE:

The Klang River Festival (KRF) 2022–2026 Project is a community-driven event by UCSI’s School of Architecture and Built Environment, aimed at reconnecting people with the Klang River by transforming it from a mere utility into an integral part of urban life. In collaboration with the local government, various water resource departments, education ministry and NGOs, it combines heritage, culture, and environmental stewardship through activities, installations, and infrastructure improvements along the river.

The long-term vision is to integrate built and natural environments, enhance walkability, boost community ownership, and create a continuous riverside promenade — ultimately leading to a cleaner, greener, safer, and more vibrant urban river corridor.
