Educational Alliance for Research in Sustainability
OBJECTIVE:
The project focused on improving the design and functionality of WOOFF’s animal shelter, emphasizing innovation and practicality. A primary goal was to enhance the wheelchair design for disabled dogs, addressing issues faced by the previous model ( prototype model) by Paws Eden Project under Colllab. when used by dogs with different levels of disabilities. Students developed a more efficient and adaptable wheelchair, improving mobility and quality of life for the dogs. Additionally, students proposed creative shelter designs, including sustainable bamboo hut-playgrounds. These structures enhance outdoor conditions by offering shaded resting areas and engaging play spaces, creating a more humane and stimulating environment for the dogs. The collaboration with Mr. Jeffrey Tan, the shelter’s owner, allowed students to apply their skills in real-world scenarios. They worked on refining and constructing versatile, standardized dog wheelchairs tailored to a wide range of canine needs. The partnership underscored the importance of merging design innovation with practical functionality.
