Traditional Knowledge Preservation of Useful Plants for Orang Asli Semai in Kampung Panggen in Pos Menson, Cameron Highlands.

OBJECTIVE:

Selected villager informants guided us in foraging the forest nearby the village for useful herbs the Semai people use in their daily life: medicine, food, utility. We interviewed them using semi-structured questions regarding the local dialect name of the plants, uses (including ailments it can treat), how are the plants used, and method of preparation. The plant specimens were collected and brought back to the university for preservation as a sample voucher and the information gathered from the interview were recorded. Tokens of appreciation in the form of food hampers and ang pow worth RM80 were given to each informant for their voluntary participation
