502 Indigenous Saplings Planted in Sabal Forest Reserve Conservation Drive
OBJECTIVE:
The Forest Department Sarawak (FDS), in collaboration with the Leo Club of UCSI University, organized a large-scale conservation drive at the Sabal Forest Reserve in Simunjan. A total of 502 indigenous tree saplings, including high value native species such as belian, meranti, and kapur, were planted.
The programme brought together more than 100 participants, comprising youth volunteers, university students, lecturers, and community partners from the Lions Club. This initiative not only strengthens forest conservation but also underscores the role of young people and civil society in advancing Sarawak’s sustainability agenda.
Through collective action, the programme contributes to the long-term goal of protecting Sarawak’s forest heritage for future generations, while fostering environmental stewardship and intergenerational responsibility.
