The Environmental and Social Responsibilities (ESR) Office of Youth Beyond Boundaries (YBB) UCSI recently organised the much-anticipated “Terrafix: Zero Waste Festival.” The event, held at UCSI’s campus, was aimed at raising awareness of zero waste practices among UCSI students and educating them on practical ways to reduce waste. The festival’s main objectives were to inspire sustainable habits and encourage participants to take action towards waste reduction.

The festival’s highlight was the Zero Waste Bazaar, which featured an impressive array of vendors promoting zero waste products. Additionally, the festival hosted two informative talks and workshops, providing students with practical knowledge and insights on waste reduction practices.

The Plastic Waste Workshop focused on educating participants about the impact of plastic waste and provided insights on adopting a zero-waste lifestyle. During this workshop, participants learned how to repurpose used coffee sachets into coasters.

The Used Cooking Oil (UCO) Workshop addressed the importance of managing used cooking oil and its potential transformation into biodiesel and candles. Participants had the opportunity to engage in candle making with UCO.
