On August 9th, 2024, UCSI University hosted a pivotal forum titled “Sustainable Aviation Fuel: New Economic Opportunity” at GG08, Block G, UCSI University, Kuala Lumpur. This engaging event brought together industry leaders, government representative and academic experts to discuss the future of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and its potential economic impacts.
 
Keynote speaker Mr. Vincent Ting, Principal at Roland Berger, alongside esteemed panelists including Ms. Esther Lew, Principal Assistant Secretary of the Sustainable Energy Division (Renewable Energy) at the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, Dr. Tang Wai Kit, Senior Lecturer from the University of Malaya and Distinguished Professor Dr. Phang Siew Moi, FASc,  shared valuable insights on how SAF can revolutionize the aviation industry while contributing to sustainability goals. The event was moderated by Distinguished Professor Tan Sri Dr. Zakri Bin Abdul Hamid, adding a layer of expertise to the discussions.
 
Participants were also treated to a showcase of innovative chemical plant design projects, further emphasizing the event’s focus on practical, sustainable solutions for the future. The forum was well-attended, with a strong turnout from both the public and industry professionals, highlighting the growing interest in sustainable practices within the aviation sector.
 
This event underscored UCSI University’s commitment to fostering dialogue and innovation in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to affordable and clean energy, industry innovation, and climate action.
