The “Beach Cleanup” event was held on 6 July as a build-up towards the World Cleanup Day in September, has achieved resounding success, leaving a significant impact on the environment and coastal habitat preservation. The event was organised by ICE-UCSI.

With the hard work and dedication of 107 enthusiastic volunteers, an impressive 224.59 kilograms of rubbish were collected from the beach. There were two kinds of trash: dry waste and wet waste which were segregated, and they included 2 bags of plastics, 3 bags of paper and even 1 bag of cigarette butts!! Each piece of litter removed contributes to a cleaner and healthier marine ecosystem. A group of students from University of Queensland on exchange programme with UCSI and students from Sri UCSI Springhill Private School have also participated.

The “Beach Cleanup” event highlights the significance of collective efforts in preserving natural resources and promoting sustainable practices. Through such initiatives, we pave the way for a greener and more sustainable future, benefiting generations to come.
