In conjunction with the National Climate Governance Summit (NCGS) in September 2024, both campuses of Kuala Lumpur and Sarawak were hosting satellite events, which significantly contributed to the success of the summit. The Seminar on “Sustainable Aviation Fuel” in Kuala Lumpur and the forum “Sustainable Transitions & Cross-Sector Strategies for Achieving a Net Zero Economy” in Sarawak were held to inspire participants to realise the sustainability issues and to take more action. The necessity for collective global action was highlighted, emphasizing that no country can navigate the pressures of sustainability alone.
UCSI’s contributions were recorded in pages 143-145 of the Impact Report.
NCGS 2024 reinforced its position as a leader in climate governance, expanding its influence through strategic partnerships, expert insights, and a steadfast commitment to sustainability. By fostering deeper engagement and broadening its reach, NCGS continues to shape the future of climate governance, both in Malaysia and globally. The summit involved deep discussions to better shape ambitious climate goals from a national development standpoint, providing a platform for direct engagement between policymakers, regulators, and corporate leaders. The goal was to focus on establishing national-level sustainability ambitions that would shape national policies to facilitate a transition away from fossil fuels to more sustainable solutions and practices.
