In March 2018, UCSI University hosted the SDG Conference for the first time. The conference assembled students from higher institutions, global experts, development practitioners, academics, and industry leaders to share their experiences and best practices on how to break down the barriers to achieve sustainable development goals.
At the “SDGs – Is Malaysia Prepared?” participants shared their initiatives, knowledge and opinion about SDGs with the audience. As one of its initiatives, UCSI is committed to develop an online platform to garner sustainable development ideas named ‘MySDGStep’ to improve the sharing of evidence, experiences and good practices on SDGs.
In January 2018, this platform was created as the ‘Knowledge and Sharing Gateway’ on Sustainable Development Goals, and it was launched during the UCSI SDG Conference.
Since then, various awareness and engagement programmes have been organised to enable more UCSI staff and students to understand and embrace steps that promote sustainability in their lives. MySDGStep is a platform that shares, and comes with the hope to gather the voices of all of the SDG advocators, locally and internationally.
In the SDG Accord Annual Report July 2018, UCSI’s SDG platform was included as a showcase on the initiative to implement the SDGs across the campus (Click here to view the annual report). Together, we are taking actions and will continuously raise the awareness and foster better understanding about the SDGs. Hence, we encourage you to share your voice and be part of this movement!
